The research explores the adoption of both mobile and internet banking as part of a single digital banking concept. The research model extends the technology acceptance model (TAM) by further examining the impact of awareness, culture, social norms, perceived trust, perceived security on behavioral intention. The results suggest a strong influence of perceived trust on behavioral intention to adopt digital banking. Perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived security and perceived risk are key determinants of perceived trust in the Nigerian context. Other factors affecting behavioral intention are awareness and social norms.</p> Ebru Saygili Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/470 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Presenteeism in Organizations: A Research on the Impact of Psychological Ownership in Healtcare Professionals http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/629 <p>The purpose of this research is to examine the behaviors of presenteeism (PT) in employees and to determine whether psychological ownership (PO) has an effect on these behaviors. Accordingly, data has been obtained from 485 healthcare professionals in the public and private sectors by survey method and independent sample T Test and One-Way ANOVA Tests have been carried out with validity, reliability, normality, correlation, multiple regression analyses for this data. As a result of the analyses carried out; a negatively significant relationship has been found between PO and PT and a 1-unit increase in PO has been found to cause a decrease of 0.410 units on PT. However, it has been concluded that the level of PT in single employees is higher than that of married employees, PT is higher in private sector workers than in public sector workers, and in employees under 21, compared to those aged 21-40 and 41-60, and as the duration of work experience and monthly income level increases, PT decreases gradually.</p> H.Tezcan UYSAL, Murat Ak, Fatma Yılmaz Kılıçkaya Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/629 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Analysis of the Phillips Curve for Turkiye: A Comparison of the Johansen Cointegration and Artificial Neural Network Models http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/632 <p>In this study, the validity of the Phillips curve hypothesis is examined using the Johansen cointegration and artificial intelligence methods for the period of 2010-2022 in Türkiye, and the forecasting performance of the Phillips curve of these two models is compared. According to the Johansen cointegration model results a 1% increase in unemployment in the long run leads to a 0.854% decrease in consumer prices. This result supports the Phillips Curve hypothesis for the long run. Beside, the increase in oil prices in the long term was also determined as another factor that increased consumer prices. On the other hand, the error correction model shows that Phillips curve hypothesis is not valid in the short run. The modelling performance of the ANN regression is shown to be better than that of the Johansen modeling. The coefficient of determination values (R2), and other performance metrics namely mean absolute error, root mean square error and the mean absolute percentage error also verify the better forecasting performance of the artificial neural network model. In this context, the findings that can be obtained as a result of artificial intelligence modeling in the management of unemployment are considered to be important.</p> Dr. Çağatay Tunçsiper, Dilek Sürekçi Yamaçlı Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/632 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Determination of Socioeconomic and Demographic Factors Affecting Household Health Care Spending: The Case of Turkey http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/635 <p>Health care spending is a critical problem for any state that seeks to ensure that its citizens have equal access to essential health services. The paper highlights the importance of smell in creating memorable experiences and its role in arousing customers. It also mentions the olfactory system's vital functions in warning and protection, eating behavior, and social communication. The use of ambient scent enhances the memorability of brand-related olfactory information. Regarding taste evaluation, the paper mentions that it involves both objective and subjective processes. Biological preferences and existing information can influence taste perceptions. Positive sensory experiences lead to positive attitudes and increased consumption, while negative experiences can have the opposite effect. The paper also emphasizes the connection between smell and taste, with smell being responsible for a significant portion of what we taste. The ambiance of the coffeehouse and the scent of coffee can influence taste and consumer choices. The sample covers data collected from 578 participants via convenience sampling method. Overall, the paper provides insights into the impact of smell and taste evaluation mediated by customer loyalty in the context of coffeehouse chains. The empirical findings from the CS-ARDL approach demonstrate that CO2 emissions are negatively impacted both in the short and long terms by nuclear and renewable energy. The CS-ARDL results also show that the long-run elasticity of economic growth is lower than the short-run elasticity, and that growing populations increases CO2 emissions both in the short and long runs. According to the DH panel's findings on causality, there is only one way that economic development, CO2 emissions, and nuclear energy output are related. The Role of Disclosures as Moderators http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/726 <p>The study's main aim is to determine the role of shareholder activism (SHA) on the performance of the firms. The performance of the firms is viewed as operating performance, valuation, and technical efficiency. <strong>&nbsp;</strong>The relevant panel data is taken for 78 non-financial firms part BSE-100 index from India for five years (2015-2019). A shareholder activism index is built to measure shareholder activism. The analysis is conducted at the three levels, first, by the linear association, second by non-linear association and third by using transparency and disclosures (TD) as an interaction term on the association of SHA and performance of the firms. It is found that SHA significantly influences the firm's operating performance. The non-linear linkage is significant. A significant positive association of TD as moderating variable on operating performance and efficiency of the firms ensures the supportive role of SHA on the performance of the firms. The study's findings should reduce widespread reluctance and resistance to SHA. The first main implication of the study is that the managers understand the positive role of SHA on the firm's performance. It would be one of the two main implications of the study. The second main implication is for the policymakers. The significant and positive association of SHA for the performance of the firms can be the basis for the long-term policy on SHA. Scarcely available are the studies that have observed on the association of SHA for the efficiency of the firms. This study would be the first such study on the topic. Moreover, the literature does not see the non-linear association of SHA on the firms' operating performance, valuation, and efficiency. This study would be the first such study. Above all, no other study is observed using TD as the moderating variable to study the impact of SHA on the performance of the firms.</p> Dr. Shailesh Rastogi, BHAKTI AGARWAL, Saumya Singh, Dr. Varun Sarda Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/726 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 A Systematic Literature Review on Sustainable Restaurants: The Case of Turkey http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/737 <p>The negative environmental impact of restaurants has received a lot of attention from academics in the last decade. Traditional viniculture is more sustainable and provides solutions to modern issues. One such deduction is circular economy, encouraging resource efficiency, waste extraction, reducing costs, minimising waste and pollution. Wine tourism may also contribute in synergy, by reducing distribution costs, offering a direct sales channel, and effectively communicating the story and meaning of wine, the winemaker and the region. This paper explores the applications of these two in viniculture. A case study has been conducted on a small-scale winemaker in Urla, Izmir, comprising of interviews and participant observation. The findings exhibit real-life, synergistic examples. Applications of circular economy in small-scale viniculture are shown to increase resource efficiency, close production loops, limit waste &amp; pollution and add value to the product. Wine tourism, while reducing costs and increasing sales, was reported to be an efficient direct communications channel with the visitor, granting a personality to wine. Due to its absolute advantages of enriching the product and the consumer and service provision, wine tourism closes the ultimate production loop. Synergistically, these tools may improve the profitability, marketability and the sustainability of viniculture.</p> Özay Emre Yıldız Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/749 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Impacts and Implications of Asymmetric Climate Policies on Trade and Environment: Evidence From EU http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/753 <p>This paper critically addresses the need for a unified global climate policy, as opposed to region-specific emission trading systems, with a primary aim to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse. Focused on the aluminum, cement, and iron and steel industries outlined in the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) proposal, our comprehensive analysis using gravity model for trade, centers on testing the validity of the Pollution Haven Hypothesis and Porter Hypothesis. Drawing on data from 10 major EU economies and 19 OECD partners across continents, our study demonstrates that carbon leakage predominantly occurs through trade channels, wherein countries import carbon-intensive products from less regulated nations. Our findings substantiate the Pollution Haven Hypothesis, revealing unintended pollution havens resulting from stringent environmental regulations, leading to carbon leakage through trade or production relocation. In contrast, supporting the Porter Hypothesis, our research underscores how stringent environmental policies can drive innovation within polluting countries, obviating the need for relocation or product imports. By substantiating both hypotheses, our paper advocates for a globally uniform climate policy and emphasizes the potential drawbacks of asymmetrical approaches. The central aim is to contribute to the understanding of how such policies may inadvertently contribute to trade-induced leakage, undermining the positive impact of local systems on a global scale. In light of ambitious climate targets, our study underscores the urgency for synchronized global efforts, reinforcing the call for consistent policies to effectively address the challenges of climate change.</p> F. The analysis results indicate that in terms of achieving inclusive growth, Türkiye's performance in indicators related to living conditions is positive, while its performance in indicators related to economy, equality, and environment is inadequate. Particularly, Türkiye's performance in equality-related indicators lags far behind the UMIC and OECD averages, suggesting a continuous and rapid need for improvement in this area. The existence of comprehensive reports and action plans prepared by public institutions in Türkiye covering almost all dimensions of inclusive growth demonstrates that policymakers are not lacking in analyzing the current situation and identifying necessary actions. However, there is a lack of intention in adopting a roadmap for achieving the objectives and goals outlined in these documents and implementing them with determination. In this context, in order to achieve inclusive growth, it is crucial to internalize the issue in terms of not only action plans but also implementation.</p> Aylin Abuk Duygulu, Nagehan Keskin Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/756 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 The Transformation of Social Contract Theory: From Classical Natural Law Theory to the Individual of Liberalism http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/765 <p>This article aims to analyze how classical Natural Law Theory in the 17 th century underwent a philosophical and epistemological transformation to become the foundational theory of the modern state in 17th century Europe. One of the primary focuses of this analysis is on exploring the historical societal processes and phenomena resulting from the principles of the Theory of Natural Law, particularly the theories of social contract. Another pivotal aspect of this scrutiny involves analyzing the relationship between individual-reason-nature, grounded in Liberalism's Theory of Natural Law, by comparing perspectives on Natural society and symbolic society. In a sense, this article aims to bridge distant and recent history, creating a short circuit to analyze the changes and transformations within the Theory of Natural Law.</p> <p> </p> Sait Ebinç Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/765 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Do Investors Reward the Quality of Integrated Reporting http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/766 <p>The need for a holistic view in the new era of information processing by investors has brought along the integrated reporting practice. With this type of reporting, firms do not only report financial information to investors; they also communicate the value creation process by relating financial information to non-financial ESG information. International Integrated Reporting Framework provides firms to publish high quality integrated reports. This study aims to examine if the quality of IR disclosure matters for investment decisions of investors and whether this result is affected by firm characteristics, such as size, age or financing preferences. The sample includes 1210 firm-year observations that are obtained by analyzing the integrated reports of 242 firms that are included in integrated reporting index presented in IFRS foundation website, for the period between 2019 and 2023. The findings of fixed effects panel data analysis reveal a significant positive effect of IR quality on returns, especially for bigger firms with less reliance on external financing. On the other hand, firm age and willingness to disclose IR are not priced by investors. The findings of this paper could help the managers shaping the reporting preferences, as well as financing decisions, by considering their effects on firm value. However, managers should also consider the incremental effects of their local investment environment, as this study does not divide the sample for countries or regions.</p> Mustafa Gürol Durak, Mert Sarıoğlu Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/766 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Analyzing Gastronomy Influencers' Views about Gastronomy Tourism http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/767 <p>In recent years, there has been a growing interest towards gastronomic tourism worldwide.
