However, researchers and scholars ignore the mediation effect of organizational commitment in the relationship between abusive supervision and employee work performance. Moreover, there is a lack of studies undertaken on this issue in the public sector. This research data was collected in the Republic of Togo central government institutions and state-owned organizations, which are of particular importance and are filled with civil servants. The random sampling method was applied to collect the data from 214 respondents through structured survey questionnaires. The finding revealed that organizational commitment is mitigating the negative effect of abusive supervision on employees' performance. The results also showed that even though employees with normative commitment are most attached to the organization, they are less productive than individuals with affective and normative commitment. Finally, the study concluded that civil servant with a strong organizational commitment doesn't show up on their supervisor's behavior but instead bear the character of "good citizenship."
Bienmali Kombate Hanna Yeshinegus Adamseged Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-12-31 2023-12-31 13 2 443 501 10.5281/zenodo.10473566 The Role of Happiness on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance: A Cross-Cultural Research in Italy and Turkey http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/564
The research aims to analyse the explanatory effects of workplace happiness on employee performance, and discover whether the variables were affected by cultural variations. The Italian sample, taken in July 2017 consisting of 409 responses resulted that "happiness at work" positively affects employee performance, fully mediates between job satisfaction and performance. Besides, job satisfaction indirectly associates performance only through the developer contribution of “happiness at work”. The Turkish sample, taken in January 2018 consisting of 550 responses showed the positive effect of “happiness at work” on employee performance, moderates only by the means of the interaction of job satisfaction and performance. The study provides current validation for the assumption that “Happy employees are more productive at work” and contributes to previous studies suggesting that relationships of variables can be affected by cultural characteristics.
Recep Caner Erselcan Pınar Süral Özer Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-12-31 2023-12-31 13 2 520 553 10.5281/zenodo.10474021 A Heterogeneous Dynamic Panel Approach to The Feldstein-Horioka Puzzle: Evidence from The European Union Countries http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/660
This study investigates whether the Feldstein and Horioka puzzle concerning domestic saving-investment relationship is supported by the data of the European Union (EU) countries using Cross-Sectional Augmented Error Correction Model (CS-ECM), Cross-Sectional ARDL (CS-ARDL) and Cross-Sectional Augmented Distributed Lag Model (CS-DL), the recent heterogeneous dynamic panel approaches which are robust to cross-sectional dependence and slope heterogeneity. Housing costs, which are an important expenditure item for households, reduce non-housing expenditures such as health, education, food, and clothing, and thus cause serious economic difficulties for households. The empirical analysis relies on data derived from the TURKSTAT Income and Living Conditions Survey (ILCS) micro data set for 2021. We limited our research to tenants aged 15 and over who are in the respondent of the household. We first worked with the probit model to understand the impact of actual and perceived housing cost burdens on household economic difficulties. In the following part, We worked with ordered probit models to determine the probability of households being unable to pay their electricity and water bills, rent, interest-bearing debts, or housing loans as planned in the last 12 months, and finally being unable to meet their total expenditures with their total income. We acted with the hypothesis that those responsible for households who have heating problems due to insulation are unemployed (or not working), have health problems, are single, have a low education level, and have a low income are traditionally included in the disadvantaged categories. Our findings indicate that as housing expenses increase, the probability of households experiencing severe economic difficulties also increases. As housing costs rise, individuals are more likely to be unable to pay their rent, energy, and water bills once or twice a year. The excessive increase in housing and rental costs in Turkey in 2022 has further exacerbated the economic hardships faced by impoverished individuals. Consequently, the findings from 2021 imply that the severity of economic hardships will continue to increase in the coming years.
Emir Bulut Nilgün Acar Balaylar Şenay Üçdoğruk Birecikli Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-12-31 2023-12-31 13 2 569 600 10.5281/zenodo.10475537 A Quantitative Study to Determine the Motivations, Perceptions, And Behaviours of Participants in the Adana Orange Blossom Carnival http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/664
The study focuses on the motivations, perceptions, and behaviours of participants in the Adana Orange Blossom Carnival. The data was collected from 339 participants who did not reside in Adana but attended the carnival. The research was conducted using a quantitative research method, and the data was collected through a questionnaire. The questionnaire included statements about the reasons for attending the Adana Orange Blossom Carnival, its attractiveness, decision-making factors, satisfaction, behavioural intentions, and social media usage. It was found that the majority of participants attended the carnival as a social event with their friends or family. It was concluded that participants attended the event to have fun, spend enjoyable time with friends, gain experiences, and relieve stress. According to the findings, female find the carnival less attractive than male but have a higher perception of attending for the purpose of enjoyment. Another finding is that social media influences the decision to participate in the carnival. Participants believe that they are happy to attend the carnival and that their expectations are met. The findings demonstrate the significance of social media platforms as an important factor in contemporary event participation.
MURAT ÇUHADAR PINAR ÇELİK ÇAYLAK YUNUS TOPSAKAL Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 601 627 10.5281/zenodo.10475708 Formation and Transitions of Consumption Culture: A Study Within a Veiled Youth Population http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/667
This article answered how the existing consumption practices are shaped among the newly formed consumers. In this direction, veiled youths, who are a large consumer group in Turkey, were selected as a sample. The face-to-face interviews with young people were conducted, and semiotic analysis of the Instagram accounts that interviewers were influenced were analyzed. As results revealed, consumption trends of this group, which is growing both as market and consumer size, can be gathered under four headings. These are the interpretation of popular cultures through consumption, transforming consumption practices and their symbols, seeking to acquire authenticity and status, conspicuous consumption tendencies and interpretation of popular culture through. These findings present a substantial discussion regarding the transformation of consumer classes.

Keywords: Consumption culture; veiled youth; symbolic meanings, popular culture
Duygu Aydin-Unal Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 628 653 10.5281/zenodo.10475858 Estimating the Effect of Smoking and Alcohol Consumption on Health Expenditures by Spectral Causality Approach: Evidence from The Turkish Case http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/672
The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of smoking and alcohol use on health expenditures in Turkey. For this purpose, the spectral Granger causality approach was used and the data set were collected from the OECD stat website for the period 1990 and 2019. According to the first finding, there is a strong causality between smoking and alcohol use and health expenditure, specifically in the 0, 0.5 domains, and supports the existence of bidirectional causality. Secondly, while there was a unidirectional causality from alcohol to health, this causality was found to be stronger in the following years. The last finding surprisingly revealed that tobacco use was not the Granger cause of health expenditures, whereas reverse causality was only supported in the domains of 0 and 2.5
Mehmet Akif Arvas Kerem Özen Meltem İnce Yenilmez Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 654 676 10.5281/zenodo.10475958 Consumers' Omnichannel Integration Quality, Credibility and Innovativeness Perceptions of the Brands and Omnichannel Adoptions http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/681
In this study it is aimed to reveal how brands' omnichannel integration quality, omnichannel credibility and perceived innovativeness influence consumers’ omnichannel adoption and to reveal the mediating role of perceived omnichannel value on this effect. Also, it examines the omnichannel usage in tourism, banking, clothing and furniture sectors. For this purpose, the data obtained by sending an online questionnaire via social media applications and via email to 411 people from different cities and having different demographic characteristics were analyzed by SEM method. According to the results of the analysis, a relationship was found between omnichannel integration quality, omnichannel credibility and perceived brand innovativeness. In addition, it was concluded that perceived omnichannel value has a mediating role in the effect of omnichannel credibility and brand innovativeness variables on the omnichannel adoption variable, while it does not have a mediating role in the effect of the omnichannel integration quality variable on the omnichannel adoption variable. It is thought that this study and the results obtained are important in terms of being a guide in theory and practice, since the variables in the study are related to the use of omnichannel in the product and service purchasing processes of consumers.
Ilknur Mazan M. To better understand this area, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 597 articles from the Web of Science database. Our research allowed us to identify the distribution of articles by year, and the most influential authors, journals, and countries. By analyzing frequently occurring keywords and thematic clusters, we gained insight into the most commonly used terms in this field. We also conducted a keyword analysis of articles published in countries with substantial Buddhist populations in Asia, comparing them to those in Anglo, Latin American, European, Middle Eastern, and African countries. Moreover, we explored the various theories that explain mindfulness as it relates to management and examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the increased interest in this subject. Based on our findings, we made predictions about this field and proposed potential areas for future research.
Ebru Tolay Berat Bağbancı Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 730 759 10.5281/zenodo.10476127 A Sectoral Overview on the Integrated Reporting Practices in Turkey http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/692
In Turkey, it has become an obligatory practice for companies listed in Borsa Istanbul (BIST), brokerage firms and portfolio management companies to make financial reporting in the period starting from 2005. Financial reporting means that companies share their financial information in order to support decision-making processes for both current and potential investors, fund holders and all kinds of creditors. Along with financial reporting, the results obtained regarding the economic activities of the companies and the results of these activities are shared with the public. Today, it is seen that investor expectations regarding companies are not only economic and an understanding that takes into account the environmental and social effects of companies has been adopted. As a result, it is possible for companies to integrate non-financial reporting practices into their existing financial reporting processes and make integrated reporting. Integrated reporting provides financial information users with information about the financial status of companies, as well as their environmental impacts and social and corporate governance practices. Integrated reporting, which enables the information presented to financial information users to be more transparent and accurate, also ensures that corporate reporting is carried out in a healthier and more effective manner. In this study, the development process of integrated reporting both in the world and in Turkey has been discussed; and also the current situation has been determined. By examining the integrated reports published in Turkey on a sectoral basis, it has been observed that the number of integrated reports published over the years has increased.

Key words: ESG, financial reporting, non-financial reporting, integrated reporting.

            JEL Codes: M41, O16
Ayşegül Gürsoy Gökçe Sinem Erbuğa Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 760 777 10.5281/zenodo.10476143 The Effect of Economic Fluctuations on Students' Nutritional Preferences http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/706
The purpose of the research is to ascertain how Türkiye’s economic ups and downs affect the dietary habits of 335 Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University students that participated in the study. In addition, they assessed that living expenses in the city of study were higher than those in their hometown. It has been shown that in 2022 compared to 2021, a higher percentage of respondents said they always eat cooked meals, bagels, and pastries, lahmacun and pide. In 2022, compared to 2021, there was an increase in the proportion of those who said they always consumed tea, coffee, herbal tea and milk, and a decrease in the proportion of those who always consumed ayran and fruit juice.
Merve İNCE PALAMUTOĞLU Gizem KÖSE Rabia BAĞMANCI Selenay DEMİR Seher IŞIK Yasemin SEFEROĞLU Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 778 791 10.5281/zenodo.10476170 The other Face of Janus: Or the Mindset of Conservatism http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/720
This article aims to analysis the attitudes and tendencies of conservatism, which has become current again with the rapid political and social changes that have occurred in the world in recent years, from both a historical and methodological perspective. The foundational concepts of this analysis are ideology, mentality, and tradition. The reason for selecting this mindset of concepts is based on the assumption that conservatism is a composite form of various tendencies. In this text, the relationship between conservative thought and other political ideologies and thoughts will be examined, along with the intellectual and conceptual coordinates of conservative thought. These determinations and definitions will be made in light of the following questions.

Firstly, the arguments put forth by classical conservatism against the Cartesian world design of Enlightenment philosophy will be discussed. Secondly, the new forms that conservative ideology has adopted and the ways in which it interrelations with other ideologies will be explored. The focus of this discussion is whether conservative thought, as a political activity, possesses an original value system or whether these values institutionalized and transform into an attitude. Other questions in this discussion include whether conservatism is a tradition or a custom. A common question related to conservative thought is whether it originates from institutionalized action or if it is merely a cynical thought limited to reacting to and commenting on the ideas of other ideologies and ideologues as a reactionary contingency. Does conservatism have its own unique fundamental theory and thought? These questions will be reanalyzed within the framework of this discussion.

Finally, this text will inquire whether conservative thought has universal validity everywhere or if it is limited to a reaction against the cultural, national, and historical context in which it exists. Answers to these questions will be sought in this text.
Sait Ebinç Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 792 816 10.5281/zenodo.10476201 A Proposed Model for Employee Competencies in Hospitality 4.0 Talent Management: H4TM http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/721
Purpose of this study is to specify and prioritize the employee competencies in the context of key specialist jobs in lodging industry and to introduce a model as “Hospitality 4.0 Talent Management”. This study integrates the qualitative and quantitative approaches. To evaluate the performance of Talent Management with Hospitality 4.0 perspective, the valid and reliable criteria are determined by a literature review. Next stage was to find out the weight and importance of each identified dimension, by use of Best- Worst- Method (BWM). As a result, a novel model is proposed to help lodging organizations to specify and prioritize their key employees’ competencies in terms of hard, soft and mixed skills for H4TM, thus to map their post Covid -19 talent management practices effectively.
Ebru ESENDEMIRLI Yücel OZTURKOGLU Ferika Ozer SARI Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 817 835 10.5281/zenodo.10476217 Model Design and Development for a User Support System Using Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Enterprise Resource Planning Software http://ijceas.com/index.php/ijceas/article/view/715
For organizations, the error-free, consistent, and transparent management of business processes is crucial. Process management is related to the proper handling of data, and this is achievable through enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, which enables all departments structured around a central database to work together. From an organizational perspective, one of the most critical factors in the success of ERP software is its users. Users often require support during the use of ERP software for various reasons, such as lack of training and experience or technical issues. Providing this support, whether internally or from external sources, comes with a cost.

This study seeks to determine whether a structure can be developed where users can resolve their support requests themselves. To achieve this goal, we propose a model of an intelligent user support system with an AI-based process engine for ERP users. Using this model, unstructured user support requests created in natural language are transformed into structured forms using natural language processing techniques and then classified using multi-class machine learning algorithms. The relevant class's process is executed to generate a solution for the user's problem. In this study, 1,000 samples of text written in natural language in 10 different categories, based on real data, were used in the learning process. The data were analyzed using machine learning algorithms (K-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, C4.5, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, Sequential Minimal Optimization, LibSVM) and deep learning algorithms (Long Short-Term Memory), The best classification was achieved with Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) using TF-IDF weighting. The developed chat and process robot helped convert requests or problems into a structured form and provided solutions. In addition to solving the problem through chat or process, technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality were used.
Hakan Aşan Vahap Tecim Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-01-09 2024-01-09 13 2 836 864 10.5281/zenodo.10476230
